Artist Q&A

1.)  How did you first hear about Open Labs?

I was on tour with Mega producer “Teddy Riley”. He told me about the Openlabs Company. And showed me the product on his studio bus… and I had to have it!!!

2.)  What Production Station do you have?

Miko LX4

3.)  How has the gear changed your method of work?

I am able to Work on the fly when I need to get my ideas out or take my entire production style to any studio with no hassle.

4.)  What is your production station's primary function, live or studio?

It’s my studio Piece, but I will say that I used it for a live gig just recently and it was a smash to use live as well. Not to mention I recorded the show live. LOL awesome!!!

5.)  What is your favorite software on the board?

Nuendo and Truepianos

6.)  How do you use it?

I use Steinberg nuendo to program all of my music. Truepianos is one of many plugins that I love to use.

7.)  Which kind of equipment have you owned in the past and how do they compare to your Open Labs equipment?

I have owned Yamaha, Roland, Kurzweil keyboards of all kinds and many sounds modules (Mo Phatt, Orbit, Proteus 1, Roland 2080). Nothing compares to having all of your sounds in one location and that have the same great quality. Go MIKO!!!!!

8.)  Has the gear changed the way you write songs?

I am able to get my ideas at the very rawest stage of creation. This is a great thing because you can feel the integrity of your work and not loose it because of have to wait to get to the studio. I take my Miko everywhere with me.

9.)  How different is the composition process compared to the standard computer or laptop system?

Well... it’s similar but more efficient. When you computer and keys are in front of you in one unit, why would you need to leave or move or turn around to access another piece of gear? Exactly, that’s what I thought…. Genius!!

10.)  Do you think the quality of your production now would be possible with another keyboard?

Not at all!!!

11.) Have you had any experience with our Tech Support and how does it rate with you?

I have and I rate it a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. They are friendly and helpful, and know their stuff.

12.)  What is next for you and your Production Station?

I want a Neko  next… upgrade baby!!!!
