C. James, Cornelius, & Company
"It is because we are so young, that we do not realize that certain things are impossible, which is why we successfully do them anyway" ......William Wilberforce.
C. James, Cornelius & Co. (CJCC) is an emerging Music Production Services Company. CJCC is revolutionizing the conventional music industry production company model through Kaleo Nation; an abundant musician's resource network of highly talented Berklee College Of
Music Alumni and current students. Our multi-divisional structure renders creative services in Songwriting, Production, Engineering, Composition, Film/Commercial Scoring and Consultancy.
The CJCC approach is brand-based. Philosophically we believe every artist is an entrepreneur engaged in building a business brand, not just playing and selling music. Therefore as a production company we are at the inception, overseeing and bringing the creative product into tangible and definitive branded form. We provide artists with a relationship and environment that maximizes their creative process and ensures that they build a brand that has long-term value and durability. A brand that transcends the music industry and authoritatively conquers related and even remotely connected avenues of commerce CJCC is a "right brain-centric business model" defined by its roots in art, design, experience and story. We believe in this model as we respond to a twenty first century demand for an innovative approach that seeks to combat current industry shortfalls in the wake of file sharing and radio consolidation related challenges.
CJCC purposes to aid in restoring utility to the artist - fan experience in a model that invokes the genius and legacy of pioneers gone before us and preserves the essence of artistry for generations to come. We believe in success but beyond success we envision greatness as defined by our quality of service to the music industry and the fans it serves. For us music is more than a profession, it's a vocation.
Artist Interview:
1.) How did you first hear about Open Labs?
Cory Washington came across their products on Musician Friend. He did some research on their stuff and became very interested once he found out what the machine was capable of doing.
2.) What Production Station do you have?
Timbaland Edition NeKo
3.) How has the gear changed your method of work?
It is so much easier to get around on one machine. We track out our stuff and transport it into Pro- tools. And then we map out everything and mix in Pro-tools all on one machine.
4.) What is your production station's primary function, live or studio?
Studio
5.) What is your favorite software on the board?
Reaper
6.) How do you use it?
We use reaper for all of our sequencing. All of our VSTs work with it.
7.) Which kind of equipment have you owned in the past and how do they compare to your Open Labs equipment?
Yamaha Motif 6, Korg X-50, Korg MS 1000, Laptop, M - Audio Project Mix. During the time we were using all of this stuff, we were very content with it because it was all we knew about. Once we got our NeKo, we didn't have to worry about unplugging and plugging in cables. That saved a lot of time with our production.
8.) Has the gear changed the way you write songs?
Not really, we still have the same process; it just doesn't take as long. Once we find our sound, all we do is press record and that's it.
9.) How different is the composition process compared to the standard computer or laptop system?
You don't have to look far to find what you need.
10.) Do you think the quality of your production now would be possible with another keyboard?
Yes, everyone has their own process of doing things. It's just important to find the way that best works for you.
11.) Have you had any experience with our Tech Support and how does it rate with you?
On a scale of 10 I would give tech support and 15...lol. Whenever you call and leave a message, they always call you back. They really do help out a lot.
12.) What is next for you and your Production Station?
To definitely add another Open Labs work station to our studio.
