At Open Labs, we put so much into our products, both “under the hood” and in exclusive software, that it’s sometimes hard to see all the value without seeing the full break-down.  In an effort to make the true benefits offered by Open Labs gear a little more obvious, we put together the comparison below.  To the best of our ability, we used real world “street” prices and products that were as close to DBeat as possible in terms of features and quality.

Can you buy these things separately? Some of it you can, but piecing it together yourself can be an expensive nightmare with no guarantees that it will even work. You can't put a price on the seamless integration of hardware and software into ONE portable unit; not to mention Open Labs' exclusive features like proprietary live virtual instrument host RiFFTM, thousands of exclusive sounds, and world class tech support that can log into your machine via the Internet, fix problems remotely and will never blame an issue on another company or manufacturer.

* Why did you compare DBeat to a desktop instead of a laptop?

Laptop computers are designed for a lot of things, but unfortunately, making music is not one of them.  Laptops sacrifice power and stability for portability, but not DBeat! DBeat's motherboard, processor, hard drive are top quality "desktop" components specifically selected by Open Labs' engineers for audio performance and are far more powerful than laptop components. DBeat has almost everything you need to write, perform or produce a song - and only weighs 20lbs!

** Why did you pick the MPC5000TM for comparison?

While the MPC5000TM was the closest we could find for a comparison, it really doesn't even compare to the plethora of beat-making capabilities that you get with DBeat. The Bump MPTM works seamlessly in conjunction with Open Labs' special edition of GURUTM, and it includes twice as many engines, drag/drop wave importing, and last pad. DBeat was designed with no compromises in functionality, build quality or feel.

*** Why did you include the LemurTM LCD touch screen?

The ability to access controls in any software instantly through the touch screen is another way that Open Labs' has removed a barrier between you and your music creation tools.  DBeat's screen is a 12" capacitive LCD touch screen with customizable right-click response times. Even if you take the LemurTM touch screen out of the equation, the DBeat still has more features and still costs over $1000 less!
