JS Krillz

"There's a new age in production and Open Labs is leading the way ... step up or get left behind."
- JS Krillz

Hailing from Hillside, New Jersey, JS Krillz has been working his way up to being one of the most versatile, up-and-coming producers of his generation. He began honing his career at the age of thirteen after a debilitating surgery kept him inside for an entire summer.

"I was stuck in the house all day and had a chance to really work on my music. I started making my first beats with a Dr. Groove drum machine and a simple midi keyboard."

Krillz continued to develop his sound, which is a blend of hip-hop, electronica, soul, rock and other genres.

"I make dirty, spaceman music ... I don't know any other way to describe it. It's not the average sound you hear on the radio today. It's a fusion of everything I love."

With grit and soul melodies that speak back to the golden era of hip-hop, he has found a way to make a sound all his own by infusing his beats with hard-hitting drums and a unique bounce. It is precisely this sound that has helped Krillz win much success in the underground scene in Jersey.

As one of the producers and DJ for the hip-hop group BullyMouth, JS Krillz toured and performed throughout the U.S. on the Warped Tour in 2005. He also co-produced their "Back to School" EP released in 2006 on Smacks Records. Since then, he has continued to work with the group as well as a slew of talented unsigned and signed artists including King Syah (unsigned) and Neako, who is signed to Sickamore's famous firm. He performed at New York Fight Klub's popular producer battle, Beat Klub, and released a forty-track instrumental mixtape entitled "Instrumental Heaven Vol. 1" in January, 2007. His consistency and motivation led to an interview in the 2007, September/October issue of Scratch Magazine which resulted in a great deal of work for the producer.

He's come a long way from the days of making music on every piece of gear out there. JS Krillz has developed a sound all his own, and with Open Labs, he is continuing to nurture that sound and progress to new heights with his production.

“I sold my Juno and got rid of all my other keyboards. The MiKo has completely streamlined my entire work process because I don't need anything else. Artist and musicians have no idea how dope this Workstation is, but they'll get it soon. Thank you Open Labs.”
