Jyoubei

When it comes to the finished product, you'll be looking around to find the right maker. The end of your search will lead you to listening to the self-titled debut EP from "Black Mage" aka Jyoubei, a name which originates inthe representation of savage characters found in the subgenres of Japanese culture. This EP hearkens back to pure traditional roots of hip-hop and its ninja-like execution to delivering the real, high class undertones of hip-hop culture and the subtle secrets of the universe.

Jyoubei masterfully spits freshly packaged flows with a quality that magically charms and harnesses any conception of all gravity. Bustin' ebb and flow from the City of Dope, this bay area artist comes up with a sense of lyrical Graff that would put street prophets to shame. Jyoubei self-professes a vision of hip-hop culture that fuses and unites a myriad of faces from a community that he loves.

Artist Q&A:

1.) How did you first hear about Open Labs?
My wife saw Timbaland on the MTV Awards with one, Googled it & made me buy one.

2.) What Production Station do you have?
     I have the MiKo TSE.

3.) How has the gear changed your method of work?
Work flow is faster & I have sounds to last me for the next few years no problem.

4.) What is your production station's primary function, live or studio?
Studio but soon to be live as soon as I get my hands on a XXL.

5.) What is your favorite software on the board?
      My favorite is MFusion.

6.) How do you use it?
Everything in my studio goes to one virtual midi port.

7.) Which kind of equipment have you owned in the past and how do they compare to your Open Labs equipment?
Too many to mention but the MPC is still my favorite. Obviously the capability of my Miko stomps on my MPC 4000 but the feel & sequencer on it wins me every time. I like to sync them together & use the Miko as sound modules for the MPC then slave it to the Miko in Live or Reaper so I can further edit & record.

8.) Has the gear changed the way you write songs?
     Indefinately.

9.) How different is the composition process compared to the standard computer or laptop system?
The Miko feels like hardware when i need it to. Not to mention the MFusion is not found in any laptop or desktop.

10.) Do you think the quality of your production now would be possible with another keyboard?
       Anything is possible.

11.) Have you had any experience with our Tech Support and how does it rate with you?
       I give tech support a 9-10.

12.) What is next for you and your Production Station?
       We're going to Disneyland!

Equipment used:

Purchased the MiKo TSE.
